What is the Pythagorean theorem?
The Pythagorean Theorem states that a² + b² = c². In a right triangle (a triangle with a right angle in one corner), there are two shorter sides and one longer side, called the hypotenuse. The shorter sides are often labeled a and b and the hypotenuse is labeled c. If you multiply both of the shorter sides by themselves (side A x side A or a²) and add them together, they will be equal to hypotenuse multiplied by itself (c²). This can be tricky to understand, so try building it with LEGO bricks to see the theory prove itself!
